MAJOR PLAYERS COPYWRITER OF THE YEAR & FREELANCER OF THE YEAR FINALIST

Thanks for stopping by. I’m Tess – a high-energy, results-driven freelance senior writer, editor and content consultant.

A little long for an elevator pitch, here’s my short story to share while you finish your tea.

I have roots in London, to keep ahead of fashion’s latest, but I write from all over the world. I could call Barcelona or Sydney part-time homes, and I’m proud to work with brands based in locations as diverse as Dubai to Paris, New York to Istanbul. I’ve had Zoom meetings from Fijian islands, crafted articles in Mexico, and even written headlines on a ship in Antarctica.

As a traveller, I have a unique vantage point. I see first-hand how advertising and social media marketing works across diverse cultures, for an array of target audiences. On Instagram – always honing my writing skills in every corner – I document my journeys and outfits. The latter when I’m not living out of a backpack. I’m a millennial (young at heart yet with career experience to surpass my years) from a big family including a Gen Z brother who I do not hesitate to call on for vibe checks. He would cringe at that sentence. I enjoy getting stuck into long, meaty briefs, creating a story your brand can be proud of. Equally, when you tell me I have 210 characters and the message is Tolstoy’s War and Peace, I hope you’ll be impressed with what I can do.

Also skilled in creative production with the keenest (OK, maybe obsessive) eye for detail, hire me for: tone of voice development and guidelines, brand storytelling, OOH, editorial planning and writing, fashion journalism, trend analysis, editing and proofreading, digital content (website content creation, SEO copy, social media copy, CRM copy, email campaigns, blogging, product descriptions). I’m well-equipped to lead a team of writers too – although I work globally so I’ll be writing poolside instead of slacking off by the office coffee machine.

While my life is anything but boring, I prefer the stability of long-term relationships. I’ve worked with brands such as Margiela for nearly 6 years and McArthurGlen Group for over 5 years too. My ongoing client list and repeat business rates are, I think, testament to the way I work. Having said that, who doesn’t love the thrill of a fleeting affair, so if you’re not ready for commitment and have a quick ad hoc project to get out of the door, please get in touch.

I look forward to working on words together.
